JERUSALEM
AND THE STAR BASKETS/BENGAL TRAITORS – “Everybody’s Dig Accounted
For”/”Suntimes”
In
case you’re wondering this was one of the singles I picked up at a JATSB show
recently and couldn’t fit in last issue due to time and other constraints that
I sometimes have to deal with outside of doing this zine. Jerusalem’s track “Everybody’s
Dig Accounted
For” is a folky rocker where sunny male/female harmonies slide over breezy
rhythm guitar and a wall of tweaked and distorted low end that morphs into the
band’s noise/folk/art rock aural experience.
“Suntimes” by Bengal Traitors is a simple heartfelt ballad with only
electric guitar and a harmonica solo to compliment the soulful vocals. Both songs compliment
each other, even if
they seem to come from different directions musically. I know in an age of downloads,
many people
may not be inclined to buy a 7” single (on clear vinyl, no less) but if you can
find this, pick it up. (BOONE)
