MARILLION
– “Somewhere In London”
double DVD
When
this came our way a while back we were definitely curious but due to the
various crisis of the past year kept us from really watching this to review it;
thus it ended up in the backlog until now.
The first disc of this two DVD set is live footage of this veteran
British progressive rock band from two concerts in London
in June 2007. Shot in more than vivid color with multiple
cameras, the imagery highlights the show from various vantage points both on
stage and in the crowd. The crisp, clear
audio perfectly frame the textures in the keyboards, tasty guitar tones and the
sometimes lush arrangements in full glory whether a delicate ballad or a
rousing rocker. The second disc features
footage from earlier in the tour (I think), rehearsal footage, and 5.1 mixes of
several songs from their Somewhere Else album. The overall feel is a vibrant,
sometimes
surprising show that warrants several viewings to find new things here. I will totally
recommend this DVD to those
readers who heave leanings towards checking out prog rock. (BOONE)
