ZOMBIE
GHOST TRAIN – “Dealing the Death Card” CD
Yeah,
I know this disc has been out for a while.
However, it seemed to be lost amidst the chaos and stress of the past
year (don’t ask – trust me on this one) until I came across it while organizing
some CDs. The latest (as far as I know)
from Zombie Ghost Train is a juggernaut of psychobilly complete with upright
bass licks, and swaggering grooves throughout the album. The songs tend to carry on
the gore and
horror themes revealed in this duo’s image, taking the psychobilly ethos to an
extreme many bands tend to shy away from. While their spin on modern rockabilly may
be a
little different, unsettling even, Zombie Ghost Train manages to walk a fine
line between creating an aural equivalent of a scary story and upholding the
traditions of rockabilly that even most psychobilly bands have to uphold. This is one
of those albums that rockabilly
fans will really like musically – and hopefully appreciate their approach to
the sub-genre along the way, (BOONE)
