BLK JKS – “Mystery: EP
	This
was one of those releases I picked up out of curiosity a little while back but hadn’t had the time to review this until
I was getting things ready for this issue.  On their debut, BLK JKS play a somewhat high-energy sound that combines indie/art
rock with various South African musical styles.  The result is an aural journey that lures in the listener with often
interlocking parts, unexpected melodic twists, and a tightness that draws in a variety of reference points without sounding
trapped by them.  There’s something here that shows a band willing to take people on less traveled musical direction.
While I don’t know much about this band, I definitely think BLK JKS offer up a good starting point with this four-song
                                    EP.  (BOONE)
