BLOWBACK – “Drug War” EP
This
is one of those singles that kept getting buried in the backlog pile due to time and space constraints until I came across
it putting together this issue. This 7” from Blowback is blistering punk/HC with a melodic twist. The songs
here are full on attacks and take on the current society (done under Dubya and his band of war criminals, but still going
on sporadically today) sung in both English and Spanish, blasting through the speakers without a lot of polish. Raw
and unapologetic, Blowback’s music is aggressive, aware, and powerful. It’s records like this one that many
haven’t heard yet which make me realize some of the good things that come from doing a fanzine, even in times as scary
and troubled as these. I really should have heard this EP sooner. (BOONE)
