THE JIM JONES REVUE – “Cement Mixer”/”Good Golly Miss Molly” download single
One of the interesting things about the Internet when it comes to music
is you can come across things you wouldn’t know about otherwise like this single from Jim Jones Revue. “Cement
Mixer” is an in your face rocker with loud drums, near chaotic organ and a bluesy swagger that’s intensified by
the feeling that seems like everything was pushed into the red during the mix. The flip side is a cover of the Little
Richard classic transformed by JJR into a relatively faithful yet somehow noisier version (though it can be said it’s
keeping with the intensity of what the song was supposed to be when it came out back in the 50s) and available only on this
single. Never heard of this band before but I do want to hear more from them. Maybe they’ll eventually jump
over to these shores from England so we can see them live. (BOONE)
