I picked this up when I saw the band play at Lemp a while back and have been meaning to get to it for a while.  The latest from Yukon is a strange blend of post HC rock that appears to have footage in avant jazz skronk as much as driving noise rock.  The four songs here build on a foundation of hard-edged beats and frantic guitar leads that border on experimentalism more than rock at times.  While it appears chaotic at first, there is a sense of song craft here that, while unorthodox in many ways, keeps the band firmly in rock territory (though they do risk going into “math rock” on occasion).  Explaining this band doesn’t really do them justice, so I feel the best thing is to nab this EP and make up your own mind in regards to Yukon’s music.  (BOONE)
