HOLY STATE - "Holy State" download EP
One of the interesting things about the Internet
is that it’s now possible to search out music and artists you might not have exposure to due to time, geographic considerations,
etc. On their debut EP, Holy State blaze out the speakers with some driving, aggressive punk where dissonance and melody
go hand in hand at times. Tight songs are delivered with an attitude that calls to mind late 80s/early 90s DC punk at
its best and enough fury to make you respond to this aural attack. From the first chord to the hoarse vocals, Holy State
keeps things going and never plays a wrong note on this debut, possibly making this early 2009 release one of the years best
records. While a limited edition pressing has been made of this on CD (only 100 copies made), I listed it as a download
EP mainly in case all the CD copies are sold out by the time this issue is printed. A definite must for readers to track
