PUBLIC SERPENTS- "The Feeding of the Fortune 500" CD
I'd like to offer my apologies for being late on this review. I
meant to get to it sooner but betwqeen time and the backlog file it seemed I couldn't find it until I came across it looking
for something else. Public Serpents' latest (debut?) disc is a collection of mostly loud and angry HC songs with fast
tempod, screamed vocals and the like with some ska and melodic punk thrown in. What's unexpected is this band also mines
electronica, dance pop, and dancehall reggae elements with synthesizers and drum loops/programs on several songs. Lyrically
they take on the system and its various machinations (with a titlt on occasion towards conspiracy theories) throughout. Admittedly
the dance music twists are a little jarring on first listen but the anger and raw fury of much of this album will appeal to
many real HC fans. It takes a lot to say I'm shocked and surprised by a hardcore record and what turns it takes but
damned if Public Serpents didn't manage to do just that with this disc. (BOONE)
