LUNAR MANSION – ‘Degenerate Heart’ CDEP

I was looking through the backlog when getting this issue ready when I came across this CD and realized I needed to check it out.  The debut EP from locals Lunar Mansion is, for the most part, raw songs in a indie rock meets the blues type vibe.  Full of crunchy guitars, and grooves that drip with attitude, most of the songs are very rough around the edges with snide vocals and a balls to the wall approach.  The last song is a love song delivered almost in an early 60s rock ballad manner similar to something you’d hear on oldies radio.  While Lunar Mansion has had a rep for being occasionally chaotic live, the songs here are more focused and manage to be the center of attention.  I know not everyone that reads this zine will like this band but if you’re curious feel free to check this out.  (BOONE)
