VARIOUS ARTISTS – “This Is Peterborough” CDWe came
across this a while back but due to a number of factors beyond out control we
were unable to get to it until now. This
disc showcases a collection of bands from Peterborough,
England playing
original songs. Aurally the bands seem
to range from melodic punk (Destructors 666) to electronic/industrial rock
(Industry) to melodic artsy rock (the Brays) to rough metal laden HC (Run
Kodos) to thrash metal (The More I See) and more. While some of these bands have
appeared on
split EPS with Destructors 666, there’s a lot more here that goes beyond what I
knew. Like all comps, the variety and
diversity here means what’s good or bad will be subjective depending on the
listener (thus, listening for yourself is crucial). However, this disc is an interesting
slice of
what’s going down in a part of England
that most people (at least here in America)
might not think much
