BURGER THIRST – Died on Da
Can CD-R
This came our way when I nabbed a
copy after seeing the
band at Cafe Berlin last summer (it feels weird saying that). On their debut disc, Burger Thirst play a
type of punk rock that’s catchy yet has some twists and turns where the melodic
gets mangled in a way that’s sometimes off kilter but keeps your
attention. Delivered with basic
production and no frills, the songs exist on their own merits with a vibe that
can hints at anything from early 90s Minneapolis to angular British late 70s
punk/post punk. While it may not be
everyone’s cup of vodka, Burger Thirst’s music does come off with a rough,
occasionally chaotic, charm that puts it own spin on punk and shows a band I
hope to hear more about down the road.
