This was one of those albums I was looking forward to checking out the moment I first heard about it.  The debut album from Jello Biafra's new band dishes up a hard driving experimental take on punk rock where wall over overdrive guitar meets unexpected twists and turns song craft created a journey that makes pit stops in noise rock, psychedelia, and even blues along the way.  Lyrically Biafra continues to aim at the big picture ranging from the Bush era abuse of power to neoconservatism to globalization to the prison industrial complex et al.  It’s a sonically aggressive journey where music that tears your face off as it takes you on the look at things many people wish to ignore.  Leave it to Biafra to create an album that's a universe apart from the rote pop rock that punk sometimes seems to be synonymous with these days, reinventing the subgenre in the process.  If TTWN held a top 10 albums of the past year list, this would definitely be in a tie for number one.  (BOONE)
