X-RAY SPEX – “Live at the Roundhouse London 2008” CD/DVD

I’ve been meaning to get around to this ever since we came across it a few months back but given all the chaos that was going on around that time it got pushed back until now.  This is a recording of a 2008 reunion concert from this legendary English punk band in London.  Musically, the band seemed to be on fire with plenty of power chords and lead saxophone squeals on a set of mostly old favorites with a few more recent songs in the mix.  The DVD of the same show is vividly shot (I think in hi def, but not certain) with numerous camera angels of band and audience (though I do wish there were more guitarist close-ups but that’s my thing).  While the songs sound a little more polished now due to time (remember most of the songs are over 30 years old) the music still stands on its own merits.  It was a pleasant surprise to be able to check this out and I think you’ll enjoy it.  (BOONE)
