K-JELL –
“Refreshing Power” CD
This
came our way a while back and I tried to get to it but family emergencies and
other crises’ got in the way and I wasn’t really able to listen to it until
now. K-Jell blast out simple four chord
punk rock musically inspired by both the spirit of 76 with a little hint of
Hanoi Rocks and Zodiac Mindwarp post punk hard rock tossed in. The Norwegian trio
excels at knocking out
up-tempo ravers about life, struggle and not giving up full of power chord
glory and chant along anthemic choruses.
Sometimes they border on pop punk but stay more true to the original
spirit of early punk to fully succumb to that.
Yes, they wear their influences on their sleeves but are able to make it
sound fresh and fairly relevant in the face of it all. (BOONE)
