IN DEFENCE/MOTHER SPEED – Split
EP
Found
out about this split when I saw In Defence live a while back and had to check
it out. In Defence’s side carries on the
band’s move towards a more metal influenced style of HC punk with songs about
people you wish would leave, 80s dance parties, and mall punks dished out with
scooped tone guitar and an in your face sonic palette. Mother Speed take over the flip side with a
more traditional loud fast HC for the most part though the last song takes
things in a direction you don’t see coming with songs about a blob, partying,
and the like that have a sense of humor.
In both cases the sound has a no holds barred approach and refuses to
let up. In one seven-inch record we see
two bands that take HC punk and put their own approach on the subgenre. (BOONE)
