KERMIT’S FINGER - “Grudge” LP
This came out way a while beck but get stuck in the backlog pile due to
the way too many obstacle that made up most of 2010 for me. Thus, I really couldn’t get around to actually listening
to the album until now. Kermit’s Finger dole out a batch of short, fast, almost lo-fi punk rock on their debut
(?) album with lost of slightly dirty power chord rhythm guitar and hoarse bluesy leaning vocals. The songs come off
at times with a garage rock feel more often than straight in your face punk (though those moments appear as well) as they
sing of grudges, women, backstabbers, snow related injuries, rage et al. What emerges here is very rough around the
edges but the band’s penchant for straight out of the garage hooks caught attention and lifts the band away from cliches
that can hinder both punk and garage rock. I admit I wasn’t sure what to expect when I put this on but now wish
I could’ve gotten to it sooner. (BOONE)
