I
took this with me on a road trip recently in hopes I could get to really listen to it if I got some down time; when a friend
wanted to hear it I put it on. The latest disc from this local juggernaut is
a transition of sorts. The band‘s trademark fusion of punk rock energy
with hard driving metal/riff rock heft is still a prominent force in their music. However,
some slower, less riff heavy songs also make an appearance as well (featuring acoustic guitars on occasion). What emerges from this alchemy is a band taking hard rock to another area altogether, further blurring
the line between metal, punk, and indie rock in the process. It’s a sonic
travel that has a lot of twists and turns along the way but Bald Eagle’s growth finds them steadfast in their refusal
to water down their music to follow the latest trend, wherever it may come from. It’s
always good to hear this band play and this album should both challenge and snare their fans.
