One of the hardest parts of doing a print fanzine
is coming across things you want to review right away but have to wait on due to things you already have backlogged. WHile
being able toclue people into cool music is great the backlog it sometimes creates isn’t. For example when this
DVD came our way we wanted to get to it immediately. However, a nu,ber of factors in my mind kept me from really getting
to it until now. This DVD captures the final show of Shonen Knife’s 2009 US tour in BUffalo, NY. With a
multicamera shoot in HD, the images are in vivid detail as the band kicked ass with a blend of songs from their then new album
along with old favorites. As always, the trio’s dishes out catchy hooks and poopy punk energy while taking in
elements of glam rock and even 70s era metal on occasion. Fast, fun, and unique this DVD captures the atmosphere of
Shonen Knife’s live shows, revealing part of the reason how the band has endured for three decades. Those curious
about this band should check it out. Fans will already like it. (BOONE)
