HORNET LEG –
“Still Life” LP
I don’t think
anyone saw this coming thus our surprise when we heard about this record. The latest from Hornet Leg continues the path
of straight from the gut garage rock/punk with occasional artsy elements thrown
into the mix. From this alchemy the band
pulls out in the pocket rhythms that tell tales of alienation and life both on
a personal and political level. Chris
Sutton and company deliver the goods with catchy songs and an honesty that
shows more of what they feel than what is cool at the moment. That’s part of why Hornet Leg continues to
win me over as they evolve as artists.
This is one of those must listen discs for anyone into garage rock,
punk, lo-fi and other underground rock forms.
Color me impressed. (BOONE)
