THE THERMALS
– “Personal Life” LP
I’ve wanted to
check this out for a while not but wasn’t able to do so due to the stress and
hassle of the past year. This album
continues the path of hella catchy melodic rock that proudly mines the gray
area between punk and indie throughout.
Full of tasty guitar parts and an almost inborn sense of hooks, the
songs here are simmering ruminations on the ups and downs of love and
relationships. Well crafted yet sincere
and heartfelt, the music here can be introspective at times yet carries through
with a drive inherent in great rock’n’roll.
The Thermals know their strengths and mine them well here in a sonic
realm where the pensive and the driving coexist with passion. Personal Life is proof that great sincere
underground rock is still around and as vital and necessary as always. If you don’t already have this album get
it
ASAP. (BOONE)
