WE ARE HEX –
“Hail the Goer” CD
I picked this
up when I last saw the band play at Lemp a while back but hadn’t been able to
check out much of my backlog for a while so it stayed there until now. This album continues the band’s penchant
for
moody, dramatic rock that lay somewhere in the no person’s land where punk,
death rock, and art music collide. One
part atmospheric synths, another edgy guitar rock, these songs are moody,
personal tales where seemingly obtuse lyrics and emotional vocals create
something that’s moving yet somehow maintains a little bit of distance while
rocking your ass off. The latest from We
Are Hex captures their previous intensity and refines it into a moody piece of
rock that may not be for everyone but for those willing to take the chance
there’s a lot here that people will really dig.
