THE SHONDES – “Lines & Hooks +3” download EP

I’ve been meaning to review this for a while but hadn’t gotten around to it given the temporary move and everything that entailed in addition to the backlog pile et al.  This download only EP carries on the more personal melancholy vibe of their album My Dear One, with a more midtempo rhythm along with bittersweet guitars.  There’s a tension here throughout as the personal and the political intersect within these songs and walks a thin line between sad and introspective and driving anthems.  Like their last album, this is a bit more introspective than usual but there’s something here that should appeal to indie rock fans as well as punks in their more personal moments.  We just learned of their new album and we’ll try to cover that as soon as we can, but if you can buy a download of this please do so.  (BOONE)
