IN DEFENCE – “Party Lines and Politics” LP
Been meaning to really
check this out for a while so finally getting the time to do so has me psyched. Just like live, this is throw down the
gauntlet vintage influenced HC punk laced with a healthy dose of thrash/crossover metal throughout, delivered with a blend
of both righteous anger and the band’s trademark tongue in cheek humor. This time around they sing about
(the band) The Police, class warfare, death metal, Monsanto’s role in genetically modified food, The DIY scene, and
other topics that seem disparate…or do they? What emerges are raw, explosive songs that blasts through the speakers
with a mix of ferocity and anger that is balanced by the humor in some of these songs. In an age when punk rock has often
become slickly produced and formulaic, an album like this becomes a sonic breath of fresh air that’s more than necessary
and something more than well worth checking out for yourself. (BOONE)
