THAO AND MIRAH – LP
I got a hold of this when I saw them live and have been
hyped about this for a while. On their debut collaboration, Thao and Mirah create music that ranges from melodic, sometimes
introspective guitar based indie rock to groove laden indie dance music with beats that almost demand that you move. From
songs about theups and downs of love to metaphors for attacks on our freedom, they blend organic (guitars and drums) with
electronics (synths, samples, electronic beats), emerging with something that’s charming yet anthemic. The energy
here radiates through the various moods within the tracks, allowing hope to come through in spite of the moodiness that occurs
at times. When this was announced, many thought it would be a meeting of what made both Thao and Mirah interesting and
special. They managed to do that – and a hell of a lot more. This is a dance record that compels you to
