SERENGHETTO – CD
I picked this up when I saw the
band play at the Hairhole a while back.
Their debut disc throws down raw and crude garage rock with some
definite noise overtones throughout its greasy guitar chords and dual bass
heft. Their songs comment on the
discontent and unrest around us taking on problems in Kenya’s capital, abuse of
police power, the fragility of the American dream, problem relationships et al
within these rough and ready hooks and beats.
There is a fragile balance between tight hooks and pure abandon as the
band aims for the jugular with a raw feel and unique attitude thatis as refreshing
on disc as in their live shows.
Serenghetto comes out of the gate in a brief existence (they’ve been
together about a year) with a disc that carries on punk tradition while
slightly tweaking ithe genre to suit their own purpose. I definitely want to hear
more from this
band. (BOONE)
