PROUD CITY FATHERS - “Eight By Four” download EP
This was another one of those bands
that I came across via the system of tubes that we all spend way more time on than is probably healthy, so I downloaded this
but I couldn’t really listen until now. On their most recent EP Proud City Fathers lay down a batch of acerbic
punk flavored rock n’ roll delivered with slinky hooks, slightly sinister sounding vocals and a ton of attitude. Delivered
in a tight, concise matter, PCF pulls off these aural calls of anger and defiance that walk a fine line between self-assurance
and crying for revenge. Short and sharp, these four songs are dished out with no frills nor any regard for trends, keeping
themselves rooted to punk’s more rock leaning side in the process. Proud City Fathers aren’t a band that
every kid will necessary lie these days. However, in an age when punk rock seems fragmented and, unfortunately, slightly
diluted by both corporate interests and trends, this band stays loyal to their roots and comes up with a disc that piques
the interest in the process. (BOONE)
