VIVIAN GIRLS - “I Heard You Say”/”I Won’t Be Long”
I came across
this single when I saw them live a while back and had to check it out. “I Heard You Say” is a moody slice
of classic indie meets oldies pop where lush harmonies meld with bittersweet guitars and a 12 string solo to create something
that sounds as up to date as it is timeless. “I Won’t Be Long” has a breezy feel that belies its folk
rock influence yet totally seems to work with it. Both songs have hooks to spare and have a vibe that calls to mind
mid 60s AM radio but also reminds us of where a lot of indie rock is rooted. I just hope the review does this 7" justice.
