BURGER THIRST – “Bringing the Ruckus to the Laydez”
CD-R
I got this when I saw them playing the Hairhole with Serenghetto last year but it ended up in the backlog
pile due to time issues. The latest from Burger Thirst is a more groove and feel orientated take on the band’s
somewhat skewed punk with a heavy fuzz bass presence as well as elements of garage rock and noise filtered in. The resulting
aural stew is a blend of noisy chops, punk energy, and a bluesy feel that seems dysfunctional at points but always manages
to keep the album moving. The band’s low-fi vibe can be noisy as hell but has a charm that will capture your attention
and not let go. This could have gone into sheer chaos but Burger Thurst managed to harness the situation into a sound
that is a little confrontational at times but seems as comfortable as on old T-shirt. Color me impressed. (BOONE)
