THE DESTRUCTORS – “11.11.11: In Memoriam” CD EP
I’ve needed to check
this out for a while but circumstances got in the way until now. This time around The Destructors tear through a hard
and intense batch of vintage style punk rock tackling the topic of war and its aftermath. Medium fast songs with hard
driving guitar and often chantable choruses underlay the soundscape for these dispatches on the costs of war past and present.
Keeping things short and direct, the band focuses on the song while delivering the message with an intensity and furor
that you don’t hear very often these days. This is the most recent part of their one-day release series where
they release a CD in print for only one day (usually when the month date and year all match – in this case November
11, 2011) so while I’m listing it as a CDEP, it’s now only available as a download. Still worth looking
for it if you’re into vintage punk and what a modern take on it would sound like. (BOONE)
