KNOW YOUR SAINTS – “Landmarks” CDEP
I wasn’t sure what to expect from
the band name but I decided to give this band a chance anyway. The latest from Know Your Saints is straight up in your
face modern punk rock with a relatively streamlined sound and an emphasis on melodies mixed with vocals gruff enough to avoid
pop punk. The songs are social observations with a personal slant, delivered with a mix of anger and call to action
fury. Short and to the point, the band makes their case and gets out as they walk a thin line between the short-fast-loud
ethos and the more modern punk sound they grew up on. Know Your Saints still wear their influences on their sleeves
but there is some potential here and I’m curious about what they’ll
do down the road. Shout outs to La Escalera Records and Solidarity Recordings for co-releasing this. (BOONE)
