BASS DRUM OF DEATH - “GB City” LP
I’ve been waiting for a chance to
really review this even since I picked this up when the band played True/False back in March. This is raw, crude, nasty rock’n’roll
built on Delta influenced guitars and crude rhythms to dish up straightforward songs that grab you and refuse to let up. The
band takes the listener on a bluesy journey through garage rock (okay, carport rock; they are from Mississippi after all)
with a sound drawing from juke joints and the Nuggets comps with a slight hint of pop hooks. Bass Drum of Death deliver an
album with the feel of an old T-shirt but maintains their own attitude throughout. (BOONE) (Fat Possum)
