RICHARD
THE LIONHEARTED - "Outliers" CDEP I got this
from the band when they played at the Hairhole a few months back but hadn't
been fully able to listen to it until now due to work and other obligations
that take up more time than I'd like.
The latest EP from RTL treads continues
in the vein of their atmospheric
type of indie pop that can nearly border on shoegaze at points but seems to be
weaving in elements of country and wall of sound pop to the mix. Fueled by
reverb laced guitars over languid
rhythms, there is an almost melancholy tinge to the material here on this aural
journey of personal tales and thoughts.
The band appears to be getting tighter
though they're still trying to
find their way at some points. I've
always been a little on the fence regarding Richard the Lionhearted but am
beginning to see the potential underneath the reverb and the local hype. (BOONE)
