ADAM BOUCHER AND THE DEAD SET -
“Beginners” CDEP
I came across this by accident while
searching for something else online and was wondering what it sounded like. The latest from Adam Boucher and the Dead
Set is folky punk rock with songs that strum along at a pace that’s both simmering and breezy, lying somewhere between
Billy Bragg meets Bad Religion sonically. The songs tend to be persona, even a little introspective at moments, l in
nature with some social commentary laced within the chords and melodies at times. There’s a straightforwardness
to Boucher and company’s delivery that makes the personal even more intimate as he explores his own zeitgeist in these
songs that doesn’t lie within a neat definition of punk but something exists here that piques my interest and makes
me wonder what else this band is capable of. This is one of those online finds that won’t be everyone’s
pint of lager but definitely will grab the attention of those listeners who give it a chance. (BOONE)
