JUNE TABOR AND OYSTERBAND - “Love Will Tear Us Apart”/”Fountains Flowing (Live)”
I
was looking for something else completely when I came across this single online and decided to download it. The A side
finds the veterans British folk artists teaming up on a cover of the Joy Division song in a stripped down minimalist approach
with acoustic guitar and strings as the sole backing for the longing in the song. The flip side is a live version of
“Fountains Flowing” from their recent album, a more midtempo piece fleshed out with accordion and drums along
with the acoustic strings. The two songs emerge as folk rock with footing in both sects but faithful to folk traditions
and should pique the interests for readers into more acoustic fare. Has me curious about what their album sounds like.
May not be the easiest thing to find but worth the search, (BOONE)
