BRAVER - "Stay Busy" cassette
I got this
when I saw the band play at the Hairhole a while back. The Minneapolis trio's debut tape is full of
hook laden poppy punk songs that go directly for the jugular with a blend of
hard driving and melodic guitars and personal lyrics. Delivered in a direct and to the point
matter, their music feels like a well-worn t shirt; comfortable yet
surprising. Lyrically they can range
from heart on sleeve honesty to more obtuse and analytical in nature. Musically, they know their wheelhouse and
play it well, delivering melodic rockers that stay true to their roots and
manage to avoid the corporate clichéd shit.
Braver has put out an interesting debut that readers into pop punk and
its sibling subgenres may want to check out.
There may be a few tapes and CDs of this around but I'll post all the
options just in case. (BOONE)
