I'd been going through some backlog recently when I came across this single from The Creeps.  "Creeping Me Out" is a dose of adrenalin fueled hardcore punk with dejected lyrics sung fairly clear with Misfits style harmonies and a wall of distortion guitar approach that grabs you and won't let up.  "Car Crash" is more subdued; a slab of poppy morbidity that simmers until the crushing power chords bring things to a climax.  Both songs carry on both a straight ahead punk and pop tradition as well as playing with tropes (the car crash song idiom) in a simple manner.  Fans of straight ahead punk with a semi tongue in cheek personal tinge may be curious about this band.  Part of the Art of the Underground Singles series.  (BOONE)
