BRUISER QUEEN - Swears CD
I'd seen this band a few times over the past couple of years but didn't
know they had a CD out until I saw this at a show and picked it up. The duo dishes out some driving punk laced underground
rock with a personal tinge forged on heavy guitars and primal drums. Catchy and melodic, they fuel hints of punk, indie
rock, and melodic alt pop within the mix with more subtlety than the fury of their live show suggests. Sonically, the
songs are slightly crude but have a sheen here that goes for the jugular and keeps your attention throughout, creating a link
between torch songs of sorts and raw underground rockers. Bruiser Queen's music isn't the current "indie" flavor of
the month but those who give this disc a listen will be rewarded with some energetic underground music that comes from the
heart and demands to be heard. (BOONE)
