CRUSADES
–
“Golden Throats” CDEP
This
came my way a while back but due to
time constraints and space issues I was unable to really review this until
recently. On their debut EP this Scotish
band unleashes a collection of post hardcore that’s both dissonant and technically
precise. Loud, dual guitar skronk
collides with intricate song parts and borderline screamed vocals to create
something that is part emotional zeitgeist and part obtuse in their
delivery. These five songs are tight,
sometimes complicated aural weapons that fit well within the post HC
soundscape. This band will be polarizing
at points, but fans of math metal and post HC will likely want to check out the
debut EP from Crusades and make up their own minds about it. (BOONE)
