JELLO BIAFRA AND THE GAUNTANAMO SCHOOL OF MEDICINE - "White People and the Damage Done" LP
Been psyched about
this since Reed of C.O.C. mentioned it during an interview I did last summer. the latest from The Gauntanamo School
of Medicine finds Jello and company delivering a potent mix that ranges from mutated hard rock to HC punk to even twisted
country rock on speedballs delivered with guitars that explode out the speakers and a passion that refuses to let up.
Singing of topics ranging from class conflict to war to tabloid gossip to the rapture and onward, Biafra delivers both some
of his angriest and his most melodic works to date. From the upbeat, frantic, danceability of "The Brown Lipstick Parade"
to the breezy call to arms of "Shock-U-Py" this is angry, caustic at times, yet sometimes also hopeful. Add the
remixes on the digital version and you have one of 2013's best albums so far - if not the best overall. (BOONE)
