TODD RUNDGREN - "State" CD
I bet this album pissed off more than a few Todd fans; it was rumored
to be a return to his Power Pop roots. (After all, he IS the TRUE King Of Pop!), but it's chock full of dance grooves and
techno-heavy elements. Calling himself DJ Odd, Todd delves into sequencers and synth grooves with a vengeance. This is no
return to his roots; this is full-on progression of his former self. There are many juicy guitar bits here, however, and hints
of his pop roots do sprout up intermittently , such as tracks like "Serious" and ultra-heavy opener "Imagination". Ballads
also make appearances, such as "Something From Nothing". A great album, especially if you want to hear an artist progress.
