THE SKY AWAKE - "Light Up The Night" download EP
This came to my attention when I was lurking
around online and was curious about checking out some music where hard copies would be difficult, if not impossible so I took
a chance. Italian band The Sky Awake kick off some slick melodic mersh pop that melds some occasional modern punk heft
with slick pop hooks and affable harmonies. More pop than punk, this band mines a sonic vein that's pure radio friendly
with highly slick synths and crunchy guitars competing for space on these sweet as candy personal/love songs. While
this seems to be far from a lot of even pop punk for many readers (think more Paramore than the last couple Dollyrots albums,
though similarities to both are here), this band does know their wheelhouse and mines it for what it's worth. While
this will polarize many TTWN readers, this will be an enjoyable gift to pass on to that friend or family member into this
kind of pop/rock. (BOONE)
