ERICA FREAS - “Belly” LP I was completely unaware about this album until I came across it
a few months back at show at Diva Haus, so I decided to take a chance. On her latest solo album, Erica takes a step
away from her role as a guitarist for RVIVR to unveil some personal leaning post folk rock with a stripped down approach and
no pretenses. With sparse arrangements, there is a sense of both hope and longing at times throughout these songs that
both draw the listener in while hinting at more underneath the surface. As the imagery unfolds the music discusses life
in both good and bad with a directness that makes me want to hear more. At a time when folky music seems to get overhyped
this is an example of what it can be when done right. (BOONE)
