HOTT LUNCH- cassette Sometimes a band comes along that seems to make its mark and leave just as they were
getting to full impact; Hott Lunch is one of those bands. On their cassette, the Columbia trio unleashed some feral
sounding underground rock n roll that draws from a wide spring that filters in hints of kraut rock, noise, punk, and even
a little touch of country within. On tape, the hooks seem to shine more with the guitar fueled frenzy harnessed into
catchy melodies and a driving rock edge that pushes forward throughout. Lying somewhere between the garage rock raveup
and all out spacey jam, Hott Lunch’s debut tape carries on the vibe of their live shows. The only down side is
that this may be their whole sonic statement as they released the tape on the day of their last gig before Jamie moved to
St. Louis. Still, if you haven’t heard Hott Lunch yet by all means go and check them out. (BOONE)
