LUCAS OSWALD - “The Things We’ve Seen” CD I got this when I saw him play the CD release
party a while back but work and other obstacles meant I couldn’t really give a good listen to this. the solo debut
from this former Columbia resident (who’s currently a member of TX base indie rockers Shearwater) carries on in the
breezy, occasionally introspective indie pop rock that’s almost overflowing with hooks and melodies. Utilizing
a semi minimal production, On many songs, Oswald has acoustic instruments drive these personal songs that manage to have both
hearts fully on sleeve while giving a vibe that there’s something underneath the surface listens. Lucas has always
managed to mine the thin line between left field indie and almost AM radio style pop, harnessing it here into a sound that
in another time would be a contender for a radio hit. The Things We’ve Seen is a moody, introspective, hook-laden,
and ultimately enjoyable ride for fans of pop, indie and the like. (BOONE)
