ANIMAL TEETH - cassette
I was curious about this band after seeing them live a while back so I decided to give this demo a listen. On tape, Animal
teeth throw down some snotty, trashy sounding punk full of greasily distorted guitar tones and lyrics that almost border on
misanthropic at times. Whether singing of being a fake punk, small talk, and the like there tends to be a rawness to this
band's sound that can't decide whether to be hardcore or garage
punk as the songs progress. With only five or six songs there is a rough recording quality that almost seems to
put everything into the red sound level wise. There also, for better or worse, seems to be a lyrical nihilism that can
at times play against the band or come
off as privilege. Animal Teeth won't be everyone's 40 oz. bottle of brew though I have a feeling that readers
who dig the snottier side of punk (and don't care where the band's collective head is at) probably will enjoy this; if
they don't already have this tape. Don't know the availability of this but you can find the whole demo posted as a YouTube
clip.
