BRUISER QUEEN - "For All the Hunnies" cassette EP
I picked this up when I saw the band playing at Eastside the night before True/False kicked off and finally got around
to reviewing this tape. The result of a snowstorm that left much of South St. Louis trapped inside by unplowed roads, the
band took their cabin fever and a different path on this EP. Using an acoustic guitar and some basic percussion (shakers,
tambourine, etc), Morgan and Jason create a more intimate batch of tales of love and loss that appears to be a far cry from
their tougher electric based material though is closer in spirit than it appears at first. With this approach, the vintage
pop leanings of the band come through more than ever in these stripped down music. Only 50 physical copies of the tape were
made but the download is still available for those who want to hear this. (BOONE)
