ASSUMING WE SURVIVE - download EP
I came across this when I was online killing time and decided to stream it out of curiosity. The third EP from Assuming
We Survive offers up a trio of modern pop punk that draws in elements of screamo and post hardcore into the fray. The songs
are hook based though driven by a strong double bass drum footing and a dual guitar presence. While there are noise elements
however, the band uses the heavier elements as garnish with a feel that’s more pop than hardcore at times with a
slickness that permeates their sound. While more mersh leaning readers and fans of modern emo/pop punk will likely find something
to dig here Assuming We Survive’s music will
also likely alienate readers whose tastes are more in the underground vein. They know their niche and play to it well
but may have traded raw energy for a slick approach. (BOONE)
