PERFECT PUSSY - "Say Yes to Love" LP
Got this when the band offered me one after giving them a copy of the zine when they played PU Fest so I've been waiting
for a chance to really listen to this. On their debut full length, Perfect Pussy explode through the speakers with a blend
of hardcore punk and near industrial noise that almost seems to combat each other at moments. All underlying the personal
tint of the songs, the music comes fast and furious with a brutality that's sometimes dissonant, often multitextural but always
keeps its roots in mind while throwing expectations (both musical and societal) in the listener's faces. Through a haze of
loud fast music with a layer of pure noise layereed on top, Perfect Pussy unveil a record that, while seasoned listeners can
draw hints of where they came from, sounds like pretty much nothing else that emerged in 2014. This band isn't everybody's
40 oz of cheap beer (as if the name wasn't a tip off) but there's something here that takes you by the collar and demands
you pay attention. (BOONE)
