THE DEAD BETTIES - "Nightmare Sequence" download album
I've known about this for a while but, while I was curious, I was also distracted by work and other things and couldn't
hear this until recently. The debut from the Dead Betties is sometimes frantic, something bittersweet post punk leaning rock
songs with introspective sometimes effects fueled guitars. Sonically this band seems trapped between the melodic songcraft
they sometimes have and the processed dissonance that often can also appear in their songs. While these two forces occasionally
meet, at this point their uncertainty seems to be a little bit of a distraction to the band. The Dead Betties are talented
musicians and there is obviously potential but something seems to be off here. I am curious about how they will evolve with
time but for now they're a good band stumbling on their ambitions. (BOONE)
